I've tried the solution. However, when I click on SupportedBrowsers.plist, Bookdog.app opens. What application should be opening SupportedBrowsers.plist ?
UPDATE: 02-26-2009
The official release version 2.9.9 of 1Password now supports Safari 4 Beta without the need to edit any files.
Check for Updates by doing the following:
1. Load the main 1Password application
2. Click on the 1Password menu at the top left of the screen
3. Click on Check for Updates as shown here:
If you have already updated to 1Password version 2.9.9 or later and are still not seeing an icon in the Safari 4 beta, please try this:
1. Check to see if the icon is present but not on the the toolbar
In Safari, click the View menu and select Customize Toolbar .. as shown here:
If you see the 1Password icon there then just drag it to your Safari toolbar
If not, proceed to the next step.
2. Make sure the 1Password browser extension for Safari is enabled
Load the main 1Password application, go to the preferences, select the Browsers tab as shown here:
It needs to be checked (i.e. have a checkmark in the box next to Safari)
If it is already checked, then toggle it. (uncheck the box and then place a check in it again)
Still no icon? Proceed to next step.
3. Reinstall the InputManager
Click on the Gear icon on the Browsers tab and select Remove Input Manager as shown here:
After complete, repeat but this time select Install Input Manager
You should have a 1Password icon in Safari at this point.
Thanks

To get 1Password to work with Safari 4 public beta:
- Quit Safari
- Locate 1Password in your /Applications folder
- Ctrl-click > Show Package Contents
- Contents > Resources > SupportedBrowsers.plist
- Root > Safari > MaxBundleVersion > Change value to 5528.16
- Start Safari
- It might be necessary to go to View > Customize Toolbar… and drag the 1Password toolbar item to the toolbar.
(The screencast's a bit old as it was created for the Safari 4 Developer Preview, but you get the idea.)
Note: Because you are modifying the application bundle itself, you will need to do this every time 1Password is updated (until Safari 4 support is "officially" built in, that is). As for the MaxBundleVersion, just make sure it's greater than Safari's (you can check by clicking Safari > About Safari; it's the number in parentheses after the version number) and you should be fine.

You can open it in textedit if you want. Right click and select that one. All you need is the ability to alter a single bit of text. Just search for safari and do the above in the obvious spot.
scroll down to the safari plugin information (look for something the the 55xx.xx range and change it to the 5528.16 and save as you are closing.
You may need to customize your toolbar once you are back in Safari. (View > Customize Toolbar > drag 1P icon onto your toolbar)
Thanks for the info. I'll use text edit, but I am curious as to what is supposed to open SupportedBrowsers.plist If you do a Get Info, what program is shown?
Thanks,
Robert
A new beta version of 1Password (2.9.9 beta 10) has been released with official support for Safari 4 beta. You can enable beta versions by going to 1Password > Preferences > Updates. Then, click "Check Now" to get the latest goodness.

Robert, if you've got Apple's Developer Tools installed, the file will open with the Property List Editor that's included.
Hope that helps.

Man, I frigging love 1password. I couldn't handle one min of safari 4 beta and it took me that long to figure it out why. No browser will ever get my support until 1password has the support for it.
You guys have made a crackhead out of me for your app.
Can't wait to see what the 3.0 will bring!

I was more than unhappy that 1Password wasn't appearing in the new Safari. I have to admit that I had become impatient waiting for a response from Agile, which admittedly was only minutes in returning.
I would like to thank Jamie Phelps for responding so quickly. The one thing that I didn't quite get right away was that the beta version can only be "automatically" downloaded after installing the latest version from the web site.
I had been scouring the Agile site trying to find the beta, and had been faulting them for not having *anything* there posted regarding the 1Password beta. That might need to be more fully explained to site viewers.
Thanks for your help on this helpless person![]()
Unfortunately, we had to remove beta from our version history page to not allow MacUpdate and Version Tracker post beta versions.
To Whomever Knows The Answer,
I kept a copy of the 'old' Safari (3.2.1) through my upgrade to the 'new' Safari (4.0b). If I have modified 1Password per your instructions to allow use in 4.0b, will that affect how it works in 3.2.1? It APPEARS to be working, but I'm not code-knowledgeable...
Do Tell...
Thanks
Man, you guys are good. I can't live without my 1Password. Thanks for updating the Beta! 1Password is still one of the best pieces of software I have ever purchased.
Thanks again!
Alvin
It doesn't work for me...
Have you downloaded 2.9.9 beta 10? If so and you still don't see your 1Password toolbar button, you might need to go to View > Customize Toolbar… and drag the 1Password button to the toolbar.

Thanks Agile
The beta is working great with Safari 4, I am loving Safari 4 by the way, but I could not have done without 1Password, so thanks again.
Rico
Thanks for the download link, it wouldn't autoupdate for me from within the app.
So now I have the icon back on my Toolbar.
However, when I click it, it just gives me the options to Launch 1Password or About 1Password, it won't just autofill my login info.
Even when I launch the app I can't figure out how to get it to fill in the login info.
I never had to launch the app before, it would do it all from my Toolbar.
Help?
EDIT - I only get the last two options shown in the screenshot shown here:

Hi cwoody222, welcome to the a forums. There are a couple of things you can try:
- Restart your web browser.
If that doesn't work, try the following:
- Quit your web browser
- Quit 1Password, if it's running.
- In a Finder window, go to /Library/InputManagers.
- Drag the 1PasswdIM folder to the Trash
- Run 1Password and let it install the input manager
- Run your web browser
